The Environmental and Natural Resources Law Practice Group provides a comprehensive array of expertise in legal matters relating to protection of our environment and prudent use of our natural resources.  Representing both public and private sector clients, our attorneys have superior skills in problem-solving, transactional matters, and litigation. 

In order to provide cost efficient and focused representation to our clients, the Group consists of several teams that concentrate on the many and diverse areas of environmental and natural resources law.  Our CEQA/NEPA Team is highly skilled in CEQA/NEPA compliance and litigation.  The Firm's Water Quality/Storm Water Team is unsurpassed in state and federal water quality and storm water compliance and litigation.  The Water Rights Team represents clients in the highly specialized areas of water right transfers and adjudication.  The Solid Waste/Municipal Waste Team is a leader in negotiating solid waste franchise agreements and resolution of landfill issues.  Our Endangered Species Team has significant experience in compliance and litigation relating to federal and state law concerned with the protection of endangered species.  The Firm's Proposition 65 Team counsels clients on compliance with California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxics Enforcement Act of 1986 and has extensive experience defending clients in Proposition 65 suits.  The Groundwater Contamination Remediation Team has over 40 years of combined experience in environmental due diligence and clean up of contaminated soil and groundwater, and team members have litigated small and large cost recovery and natural resource damage cases in both federal and state courts.  Our Environmental Criminal Defense Team includes former prosecutors and environmental engineers who aggressively defend clients accused of environmental crimes. 

In addition, the Group has formed teams that are pioneering new areas of developing law that are, and will be, of considerable importance to our clients.  Our Brownfields Development Team has taken a fresh look at redevelopment of environmentally impaired properties by successfully forming public/private partnerships to bring contaminated properties back to productive economic use.  The Firm's Transportation Team orchestrates regional approaches to solving transportation problems, including acquisition of funding, cooperative land use, and construction matters.  Our Electromagnetic Fields Team advises our land use clients on the increasingly complex issues related to development near power lines.  The School Construction/Demolition Team advises our school district, college, and university clients on the complex array of environmental requirements related to construction and demolition of schools in California.  Lastly, our newest team, the Homeland Security Team, advises clients on homeland security issues especially relevant to local governments and identifies grant monies and other funding sources to implement security programs.
