Burke is currently recruiting for the following positions for our Oakland office:
General Municipal Law, Real Estate, Transactions – We are seeking a skilled and motivated senior attorney with 5+ years of significant experience in representing public agencies, cities preferred. Candidates must have attended city council, planning commission, and similar board and commission meetings, drafted ordinances and resolutions, performed legal research, reviewed and drafted contracts, and have familiarity with land use, environmental, and economic development matters. Must have experience advising senior staff and councilmembers regarding conflicts of interest, Brown Act, and Public Records Act issues.
Public Law Litigation - We are also looking for a skilled and motivated associate attorney for our Oakland office. Discovery, law and motion, municipal law/land use litigation. 2-4 years experience, with excellent writing and research skills.
Real Estate/Land Use Transactional Associate - We also have need of a mid-level associate attorney in Oakland with experience in transactional real estate, development and land use matters to represent public agencies, as well as private for-profit and non-profit clients, in leasing, purchase and sale and public/private partnership development transactions. 3 - 5 years’ experience with strong research and drafting skills required.
Additionally, we have need of General Municipal/Public Law Associates in our Los Angeles and Riverside offices with between one and five years of experience in representing public entities, including attendance of public meetings, drafting ordinances and resolutions, performing legal research, reviewing and drafting contracts, and providing advice regarding conflicts of interest, the Brown Act, and Public Records Act. Familiarity with public land use, environmental, and economic development matters is preferred. Experience with writs, code enforcement, and tort liability litigation is a plus.
