Negotiated a global resolution to a complex, class action. A group of temporary employees, agency temporary workers, consultants and independent contractors challenged their exclusion from Metropolitan's employee benefit programs and CalPERS. The class action sought full employee benefits as well as enrollment in CalPERS on a retroactive basis. After the California Supreme Court ruled that common law employees are eligible for PERS benefits CalPERS achieved resolution through a global settlement that included a negotiated claims process.
