Lauren Laphen is an associate in Burke’s Orange County office where she is a member of the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. She advises and represents public entities and private clients in a variety of matters, including municipal law disputes and insurance defense.
Lauren earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School where she was a Certified Law Student in the Juvenile Justice Clinic within the Center for Juvenile Law and Policy at Loyola. As a clinical student, Lauren provided holistic, client-centered representation to juvenile delinquency clients, including investigations, written motion work, and appearing on the record in post-sentencing matters. Lauren was also a member of the Loyola Scott Moot Court Honors Board and competed in the Roger J. Traynor Moot Court Competition.
During her time in law school, Lauren served as a judicial extern for both the Honorable James D. Otto of the Los Angeles Superior Court and the Honorable Patricia Donahue, United States Magistrate Judge for the Central District of California. Additionally Lauren served as an extern in the Criminal and National Security Division of the United States Attorney’s Office. As an extern, Lauren assisted with cases in the Major Frauds, General Crimes, and Violent and Organized Crime sections. Additionally, she appeared on behalf of the United States as a Certified Law Student in U.S. District Court for detention hearings and supervised release revocation hearings.
Prior to law school, Lauren earned a B.A. in History and Philosophy from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.
Outside of her practice, Lauren enjoys playing pick-up soccer, traveling, and spending time at the beach.
