Rafael R. Garcia-Salgado

Rafael Garcia-Salgado focuses his practice on general commercial litigation, concentrating in the areas of consumer finance, bankruptcy, and complex civil disputes.

Prior to joining Burke, Rafael was an associate at two national law firms.  Rafael also served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Margaret M. Mann at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California.

Rafael graduated from Cornell University as the only recipient in his class of JD/MBA dual degrees.

  • Obtained dismissal of a class action against a large national bank for correspondence sent to consumer borrowers following a discharge of their debts.
  • Obtained reversal on appeal of a bankruptcy court decision ratifying the sale of one of the nation’s largest title insurance companies for less than reasonably equivalent value.
  • Successfully defended a large international bank in one of the largest Ponzi schemes in the country’s history.
  • Represented multiple national franchises in successful Chapter 11 reorganizations.
