Arti L. Ferrera

Arti Ferrera is a Senior Associate at the San Jose office of Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP. Arti counsels public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private employers on a broad range of labor and employment matters. With more than fourteen years of experience, Arti has represented clients in administrative hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and disciplinary matters before the Civil Service Commission. She also serves as a negotiator in collective bargaining with employee organizations, including general employee, police, and fire bargaining units. Her practice includes advising Human Resources professionals, developing personnel rules and administrative policies, and drafting employee handbooks.

Arti is widely recognized for her commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As Chair of the San Jose City Attorney’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Arti led initiative to foster belonging and inclusion within her department and legal community, which led to the Committee’s recognition by the International Municipal Lawyers Association as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award recipient in 2024. In 2024, Arti was also selected as a leadership fellow by the South Asian Bar Association.

Arti has served on nonprofit and bar association boards and continues to mentor youth and promote access to the legal profession. Arti holds a Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from University of California, Santa Barbara.
