Jon G. Jorgenson

Jon is a senior associate in the firm’s Litigation Practice Group where his practice focuses on the defense of law enforcement officers. Prior to joining Burke, Jon was a Deputy District Attorney for 14 years, including five years in Special Prosecutions handling complex auto insurance fraud and arson cases. He worked in close collaboration with California Department of Insurance detectives, insurance Special Investigation Units, and law enforcement partners to evaluate investigations and pursue appropriate legal action.

Jon managed cases from initial review and charging decisions through trial or negotiated resolution, and his matters resulted in the recovery of several hundred thousand dollars in restitution for insurance carriers and civilian victims. In addition to casework, Jon helped lead an auto arson and insurance fraud initiative focused on interagency coordination and training, which led to new investigations and criminal filings. He also presented at statewide anti-fraud and district attorney association conferences on investigative and prosecution considerations.

Earlier in his career, Jon spent 15 years in law enforcement as a Deputy Marshal and Deputy Sheriff, gaining hands-on experience with investigations, evidence evaluation, courtroom operations, and high-stakes decision-making. That foundation continues to inform his approach as an attorney, particularly in matters involving complex fact patterns, regulatory issues, and risk assessment.
