We are seeking an associate with 3-6 years of experience to join the expanding Litigation team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent research, writing, and analytical skills, and be prepared to engage in the following duties:
The ideal candidate will have:
- Significant experience advising law enforcement agencies on legal and regulatory matters
- Strong knowledge of constitutional law, civil rights litigation, and law enforcement code practices
- Excellent writing, research, drafting, and analytical skills
- Strong work ethic, self-starter, and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to manage matters independently and interface directly with public officials, command staff, and agency personnel
- Admission to the State Bar of California
The associate will be expected to:
- Advise law enforcement agencies on use of force, constitutional policing, liability exposure, and risk management issues
- Represent public safety agencies in administrative proceedings, including officer discipline and appeals
- Draft policies, procedures, and training materials related to law enforcement practices
- Assist with internal investigations and personnel matters, including background investigations and disciplinary actions
- Prepare legal opinions, memoranda, and reports for agency leadership and governing bodies
- Attend and present at city council, board, and commission meetings as needed
- Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas on matters involving labor and employment, litigation, and regulatory compliance
The anticipated base salary range for this full-time role is $158,000 – $205,000 plus annual performance-based bonuses. The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s years of practice and experience. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
