Docket Clerk
Jan 22, 2026Burke, Williams & Sorensen, LLP is seeking a full-time Docket Clerk to join its Los Angeles office. This position is a full-time, non-exempt, 8-hour/day position. Our current arrangement for staff is to work 2 days on-site and 3 days from home weekly upon satisfactory completion of their introductory period. This arrangement may be changed at any time based on business needs and decisions.
Description of Responsibilities
Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintain accurate calendaring and docketing using the Firm’s centralized calendaring/docketing software (Prolaw; transitioning to Milana).
- Review court filings and incoming documents to identify, calculate, and calendar critical deadlines and key dates.
- Retrieve court documents and maintain related docketing databases and matter records.
- Monitor court dockets for updates and ensure all calendar entries and deadlines remain current.
- Run and distribute docketing and calendar reports as needed.
- Conduct case and docket research using docketing software, online court resources, and internet tools.
- Provide litigation support to attorneys by tracking and communicating deadlines, filings, and scheduling details.
- Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, legal secretaries, and staff regarding docketing procedures, calendaring research, and deadline questions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years of docketing experience in a law firm environment.
- Prior experience utilizing docketing programs, including in particular Prolaw, Compulaw, and Milana.
- Proven track record of strong customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat is required.
- An understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures and familiarity with court filings and general rules of court for processing pleadings.
- Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong level of knowledge of court rules and procedures in California state and federal courts.
- Strong research ability and knowledge of court rules and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, based on department needs, is required.
- This role reports to the Firm’s Director of Human Resources.
Compensation
The annual compensation range for this position is $75,000.00 to $95,000.00. The salary offered within this range will depend upon qualifications and experience.
