Keiko Kojima’s practice includes a broad range of litigation matters, including insurance coverage disputes, bad faith liability actions, and contractual disputes.  Keiko’s primary focus is in the area of ERISA and employee benefits, including the representation of insurers in life, health, and disability litigation.  She also provides litigation assistance to the firm’s Education Law Practice Group.

While attending Brown University, Keiko interned for former Congressman Esteban E. Torres in Washington D.C.  She was also selected to participate in the Everett Public Service Internship Program to work as a summer intern for Citizens for Tax Justice in Washington D.C.  While in law school, she received an American Jurisprudence Award in Evidence.

  • Second-chaired four-day jury trial resulting in a successful defense verdict in a breach of contract and bad faith case
  • Obtained summary judgment for insurer in an accidental death and dismemberment insurance case
  • Prevailed in an ERISA trial upholding insurer’s termination of long term disability benefits after over eight years of payment
  • Robinson v. Hartford Life & Acc. Ins. Co., 755 F.Supp.2d 1054 (C.D. Cal. 2010) (judgment granted in favor of defendant insurer upholding denial of plan benefits following ERISA trial)
  • Bates v. Hartford Life & Acc. Ins. Co., 765 F.Supp.2d 1218 (C.D. Cal. 2011) (motion to dismiss causes of actions for Business and Professions Code §17200 and negligent infliction of emotional distress granted without leave to amend)
  • Mitchell v. CB Richard Ellis Long Term Disability Plan, 611 F.3d 1192, 1201 (9th Cir. 2010) (declaratory judgment properly granted in favor of prior insurer of ERISA plan)
