Timothy E. Campen

Timothy E. Campen is the Assistant City Attorney for the City of Bellflower and the City of Monterey Park and Deputy City Attorney for the cities of Coronado, Solana Beach, and Lemon Grove. Tim focuses on code enforcement; tort, contract and employment litigation; land use and planning; and general municipal advisory responsibilities.

Tim began the first seven years of his legal career at the San Diego City Attorney’s Office. His responsibilities included defending the City in general tort and complex public works litigation; working with the City’s redevelopment agencies; and advising the City on Americans with Disabilities Act compliance. Additionally, he served as Head Deputy City Attorney for the City’s nationally recognized Domestic Violence Prosecution Unit.

Following his tenure with the City, Tim spent five years as a felony prosecutor with the San Diego District Attorney’s office. There he concentrated on family protection; major narcotics offenders; and internet crimes against children.

After 12 years of public service, Tim entered private practice focusing primarily on civil litigation, including defending businesses and individuals in tort, contract and employment claims as well as representing plaintiffs in class action, employment, and consumer matters. Over the years, Tim has taken over 100 jury trials to verdict.

In addition to his vast experience with litigation matters, Tim served as faculty with the Family Justice Center Alliance. In that capacity, he travelled throughout the United States, Europe, South America, and the Middle East, presenting trainings and working with civic leaders, judges, law enforcement, and advocates towards development of innovative coordinated community responses to family violence.

Tim and his wife have found themselves outnumbered with three lovely children. In his free time, Tim sings and plays guitar in a rock ‘n roll band
