Ghazaleh Modarresi is a partner in the Labor and Employment Practice Group, and a member of Burke’s Workplace Investigations team. Ghazaleh regularly conducts impartial and thorough workplace investigations in both the private and public sectors. She also assists clients with navigating internal investigations and oversees and advises clients on investigations conducted by other external investigators.

In addition to her workplace investigations practice, Ghazaleh provides employers advice and counsel on day-to-day labor and employment-related issues. She works closely with her clients to develop appropriate strategies to avoid litigation and minimize potential exposure in the area of employee relations. Ghazaleh provides practical advice and counsel on wage-and-hour issues, leaves of absence, accommodation of disabilities, claims of harassment and discrimination, preparation and implementation of employment policies, advice on employee hiring, discipline and separations. She also conducts various workplace trainings, including mandatory sexual harassment prevention training for supervisory and non-supervisory employees.

Prior to joining Burke, Ghazaleh worked at two well-respected Silicon Valley law firms, including an AmLaw 100 firm, where she exclusively represented businesses and management in all facets of California labor and employment law. Ghazaleh has defended employers in state and federal courts, arbitration, and before administrative agencies. Drawing on her years of litigation experience, Ghazaleh helps clients identify and avoid employment-related problems before they occur.

Ghazaleh is a former adjunct clinical professor of the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she taught a course in the school’s Employment Law Clinic. She is called upon regularly as a speaker for conferences, seminars, and trainings addressing workplace investigations and employment law issues and developments. During law school, she was a judicial extern for Senior United States District Judge Susan Illston.

Beyond her regular legal practice, Ghazaleh serves as a member of the Board of Directors of JW House, a non-profit organization that helps keep families together during times of medical crisis.
